maloney impressed by lennoxtown

David Friel
IT didn’t take him long did it? Just minutes after finishing his first training session as a Celtic player, second time around, there was Shaun Maloney, bag of balls on the ground, whipping free-kicks into the top corner.

To his right was Aiden McGeady. To his left was Barry Robson. The trio were taking advantage of the majestic facilities of Celtic’s Lennoxtown Training Centre.

In the 18 months since Maloney’s departure, the opening of Lennoxtown has been one of the biggest changes and the attacker admits he is mightily impressed by the new training ground.

“The training centre is brilliant,” he told this week's Celtic View. “I got a guided tour just before I signed and I was really impressed.

“The gym is full of state-of-the-art equipment, as you would expect, and it’s really top notch. You couldn’t ask for anymore and the surroundings are quite scenic as well.

“The facilities are brilliant, and I suppose they are a bit of a far cry from Barrowfield. I must say though, that I liked Barrowfield. It gave you a great grounding as a youth player and it wasn’t as bad as some people said.

“At Lennoxtown though, everything is there for you. We don’t need to jump in a car to get to training. Everything is in one place and I think I’ll enjoy working here.”
