Ronnie Simpson

The elder statesmen of the Lisbon Lions, Ronnie Simpson remains unsurpassed in the long list of fine Celtic goalkeepers.

He was 33 by the time Jock Stein lured him to Celtic in 1964, but enjoyed a supremely-productive spell in Glasgow during a golden era for the club.

Respected by fans and players alike, he was inspired in the European Cup final as he lead by example.

Ronnie played almost 200 times for Celtic and picked up a complete collection of medals. He sadly passed away in 2004 at the age 73.
